2 ALIEN ENCOUNTER STORIES IN 1 PACKAGE

ENCOUNTER
In an attempt to prove it to the world that crop circles are man-made and aliens don’t really exist, Ricky and his team of young enthusiasts (including one particular enthusiast, Josh, who is hopelessly in love with Ricky) start falsifying the phenomenon by creating their own crop circles. Their endeavors prove successful, pretty much so, but only until the day when Ricky sees his unique circle design replicated throughout the country by the force unknown.

LIGHTS
Coming home for summer break, two film school students, Bradley and Tag, decide to shoot a staged UFO encounter video, one that could potentially generate a lot of attention and a lot of clicks on YouTube. Unexpectedly for both of them, during the filming they accidentally discover a real alien presence in the dark waters near their coastal home town.

Excerpt:

Another rifle shot resounded and the barking of dogs followed it. It sounded like the pack of Sullivan’s dogs was smaller now, probably two or three old raggedy bitches died since the last time the gang was here. Now only about three or four dogs were barking, but they were all Dobermans, vicious as hell. Even the three of them could rip a person to shreds, which was probably even worse than a gun shot.

Josh started moving towards where the guys were hiding, moving fast, but trying to keep as low as possible.

Yet another rifle shot ripped through the silence.

“I’m gonna make you regret you ever came here, freaks! Destroying my crops, do you think this is funny?” Sullivan shouted, raging against the stupid youth. This time he was probably right. Coming here was indeed a stupid idea. Everyone on the team knew it, but they went along with it for the cause and because Ricky’s unusual determination made them believe that they could probably make it this time. They sure were wrong.

“Do you think it’s a game?” he shouted again.

Josh made it to where Emily and Ricky were sitting. He joined them, but that was probably pointless; together or apart, they were screwed all the same.

“Shit, guys! Shit!” Josh whispered, distinctly hearing the rustle of dogs running through the wheat somewhere not far away from here really, really not far away.

Ricky commanded in a loud whisper, “Keep quiet!”

The Review:

4 Stars

I saw the title for Love Cubed and was intrigued by it. I had to read more. It’s a ménage with jocks. Despite not being a follower of Sports-type events personally, I love to read about mm hockey players, football players, and swimmers finding love.

I’m all about three men together. That solidified it for me.

I had a month to read it. I said to myself, “I can do this.” For many that follow me here and on social media, I’ve had a heck of a year and this year is shaping up to be just as… interesting. 3 days ago I realized I hadn’t even started it and my post is on Monday. Crap. So, being my multitasking self, I read it last night while doing other things.

I had to finish it, and in the wee hours one day before my scheduled post day, I managed it.

I loved it.  There were some point of view changes that I had to re-read a couple of times to catch who was talking/thinking. I like POV changes, but they were paragraph by paragraph changes in the early chapters, so a little different writing style that was difficult follow initially. There were a lot of description–rather than action. Since some of it was catching up with other secondary characters, it felt normal for the story. A misplaced period at the end of one sentence, but otherwise proofing/grammar was good. Loved Sebastian, Andrew, and Francis. Their growth, their rising love, and how they were woven together were great. Polyamory is hard to write well, and Eddy did a great job of building the characters, including several secondary characters to give it realism. It was easier later in the book, and hard to put down, which is why I managed to read it one sitting. 🙂 Being a mathematics geek, I did enjoy the reference. I will definitely have to look for more works.

With this, I give Love Cubed 4 stars.

Excerpt:

Francis was feeling hungry after a full day of sports, but he was also anxious to see if he could spot the photographer, who he now remembered was some kind of journalist for the National Herald. However, he didn’t want to spoil the camaraderie that had developed between him and the others—Andrew and Sebastian especially—so he decided to leave the photographer thing alone for now. He was enjoying the praise Andrew and Sebastian were pouring onto him, and the closeness. It felt good. Suddenly, he heard a shout. Someone was shouting a name he hadn’t heard in a long time. He panicked. He got loose from Andrew and he ran. He wouldn’t stop until he was safe in his room. He knew now he should never have left it.

Sebastian and Andrew saw John and Heather talking to the photographer guy, and tried to distract Francis from noticing him. Andrew put his arm around Francis, guiding him away. They would have succeeded if it weren’t for Francis hearing someone shouting. It wasn’t even his name, but all of a sudden, Francis bolted. Andrew’s and Sebastian’s instincts were telling them to run after him. However, they both stopped abruptly and turned back to the photographer when they heard John yell, “Are you telling us our Francis is really Robert Katz? The Robert Katz?”

Everyone had heard of Robert Katz. It was a scandal involving a young high school student from a very prestigious private school who had broken a sexual abuse ring involving a teacher. The accused had committed suicide. This caused a backlash toward the accuser, Robert Katz, who had then been bullied and harassed, accused of making up the whole thing. It culminated in Robert being physically abused by fellow students who were trying to torture the truth out of him. Charges had been laid. People had been found guilty and sentenced. An inquiry was started. There was a publication ban throughout the trials and the inquiry. No one was to publish pictures of Robert, to ensure he could at least try to live a normal life.

Andrew stomped his way to the journalist, followed closely by Sebastian. “That was Francis Hollingsworth who just ran off. Are you saying that he is really Robert Katz? You have proof?”

Denis sighed. “I didn’t mean for this to get out just yet, not like this. I should not have shouted his name. I could be fired for this. I know what Robert Katz looks like because I saw him at the trials. His full name is Robert Francis Katz. His mother’s maiden name is Hollingsworth. It’s him. I need to talk to him.”

Heather was the one who put a hand out to stop him. “You aren’t going anywhere near him. He didn’t deserve to be outed like this.” Heather turned to Sebastian and Andrew. “You two need to go to Francis. He’s probably locked himself in his room. God knows what he’ll do. He needs to know that people care about him—that he’s loved—before he does something stupid to himself. You both need to go and tell him how you each feel about him. Be honest with him and with yourselves for once. Do it. Now!

Stunned, bewildered, and spurred on by the urgency of the situation, Andrew and Sebastian ran in the dorm’s direction.

About the authorEddy LeFey

Eddie LeFey started reading m/m romance fanfiction a few years ago. At one point, during a crucial point in the soap opera storyline of his favorite gay couple, the story went on hiatus. He needed a fix and decided to write his own version of what he wished would happen. Friends wanted to read it, so he plucked up his courage. Pressing the submission button was nerve-wracking, but he did it. People liked it. He wrote a few more.

Up until that point Eddy had tried his hand at writing many times. The delete button was his friend, as was starting over, and over, and over, but he could no longer do that if he wanted people to read his works.

A few of his writing friends decided to create original stories, and feeling brave, Eddy did the same. The stories were shared among a select few. They encouraged him to submit one of them. Low and behold, it is now being published.

Eddy lives in Canada with his husband Ken and his cat Oscar Wild. He is busy writing many more stories.

#HAHABT: Hop Against Homophobia, Biphobic and Transphobia Blog Hop (May 17 – 24, 2015)

Welcome to Moonbeams over Atlanta as we kick off the 2015 Hop Against Homophobia, Biphobic and Transphobia Blog Hop.

My name is Eloreen Moon and this is my message of HAHABT awareness for you.

Today is

International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia
http://dayagainsthomophobia.org/

May 17, 2015

Why do I to host the Hop Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (HAHABT)?

Because I am a female bisexual person, and in some aspects of my life, a bi-gender person as well. Hermaphrodites are biologically dual-gendered, and Intersex people are those that generally have a range of non-distinct genital or reproductive organs to definitively call them male or female. But, what if you are mentally indistinct on your gender?

Bi-gender? Is that even a word?

I don’t know. I just thought of it now while making this post. I just might see if that is even a “real” thing, probably later date when curiosity overcomes the other priorities in my life. It is still a word, or label. But we are in an age of infomation and communication primarily through words.

I am cis-female. I like men. I like women. Some people I like sexually, some I just like to hang out with them. No sexual attraction involved. I like me, but I do think about what it would be like if I was male. Yet, I have no desire to be male. In some respects, I have actions and thoughts that are typically attributed to males. Shades of the same spectrum, I guess. And it makes you  wonder that, like Autism, gender identity might not also have a “spectrum,” but nobody talks about it because who would think their personal preference would manefest physically?

Yet, there are others those that fear for their lives, or their children’s lives, if others would to know their acceptance of their own sexuality or gender–even both–especally today when awareness is more global and travels the speed of social media. They fear reprocussions in their job, in their local communties, and in their kid’s schools if “society” should found out that their personal normal does not match society expects. There are those that are more that are tolerant. But, you still fear when you feel you are not part of society, regardles of gender, religion, who you love, and how you love.

So, I continue to offer my blog to dedicate to change of society norms by participating in the HAHABT blog hop for awareness:  One blog post at a time.
Because you never know when one person reaching out would make a difference.

I am giving away a $5 Gift Certificate to an e-Retailer of the winner’s choice to buy that must-have LGBT title on your “to be read” list.  🙂

To enter, comment on this post your story of overcoming your own fear of what would happen if people knew you were Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, or anything in between or different from society. Because we, as people, do not fit in a single box. Differences are beautiful. Inspire us with your courage, perseverance, and understanding. It doesn’t have to be about you personally. If you don’t want to share right now, that is a valid story too.  Awareness is vital, one blog at a time. It only takes one person to change the world: Even if that world is your local neighborhood, or a blog post on the internet. 🙂

Contest will end at 11:59 pm EDT 5/24/2015 and a randomly chosen commentator (random.org) will win within the next day or two.
I will be contacting the winner via email and posting the name as well.

HAHAT 2014

Today is

International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia
http://dayagainsthomophobia.org/

May 17, 2014

Why did I decide to host the Hop Against Homophobia and Transphobia (HAHAT)?

Well, that’s easy.  Because it’s the right thing to do.

But then it gets tricky.  What can I say or do as an individual who is not gay/lesbian (I’m bi) and never had any wish to be other than the gender I was born with?

Not everyone is built the same or loves traditionally.

And sometimes, all you want to do is fulfill what you know/understand/accept to be what you need to be, regardless of who you love and what sex your body should be.  There are those that are born with both genders and society wants them to pick.  But, what if you can’t, or don’t, want to pick?  Or you need time to make that decision like so many transitioning people who feel they are in the wrong body?

Below is a video someone showed me on Facebook not to long ago.  It inspired me to create this post.
It is almost 19 minutes long but I think it is well worth finishing it.  He has probably one of the best description/definition for sexual identity and orientation that I’ve heard.  They are not the same and it really opens your eyes to understand those that have a different sexual identity and/or sexual orientation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtkJlqTCPNU

Then look at the comments and see that even here there is hate. That needs to change.
It opened my eyes to the reality of transgenders and I hope you learned something too.

So, I offer my blog to dedicate to, and provide, change by participating in the HAHAT blog hop for awareness:  One blog post at a time.
Because you never know when one person reaching out would make a difference.

Caring for Eric Arvin….

I’m writing!

I’m actually writing! Well, mostly. When I have a chance. I’ve done some edits to one story and it needs more. Still noodling on that one.  Another, I’m just not sure but I should sit down and figure it out. But, first, I decided to try to submit something for Dreamspinner Press’s call for submission for the Christmas/Holiday season. And it’s due…August 1.  Yeah, like a week away. *thunks head* What am I thinking!? But, I got to 1325 words! Yay me!

So, I’m celebrating…by going to bed. *Sigh* I might do a little more but likely I’ll work on it some more tomorrow.

It’s going to be short. It’s about first dates and maybe new love, with a twist.  It’s m/m romance. I may not make the submission; and if I don’t, that’s fine. I can tweak it and try next year. Or, I might post here as a free writing. We’ll see!
