Overseas service men and women: Free eBook!

Reposted from Patrick Donovan’s Facebook post with permission.  Please pass this along.

So, I wanted to put this out there, and see if you folks would be kind enough to help me spread the word: I am going to give an ebook copy of my book, Demon Jack, to any serviceman or woman currently serving overseas absolutely free of charge. There’s no string attached, I don’t expect anything in return, or anything like that. The only thing you have to do is email me (pdonovanauthor@gmail.com). That’s it. I will ask, however, that those of you that have friends or family that are in the military and overseas, that you pass this along to them, share it on your facebook, that sort of thing and help spread the word. I’ve included the back cover blurb for the book, just so folks have an idea of what it’s about, to see if it’s something that would interest them. This is, in my own small way, a way to say thank you.

Simple choice:

Stay dead and go to Hell,
Or sell your soul to a demon and keep breathing.

Fifteen years ago, Jack died and chose the latter. Now, a few years out of prison and living on the streets of Boston, Jack is perfectly content to keep a low profile and avoid his turbulent past.

Being a faceless “nobody” suits Jack just fine.

It’s working out until the only person he considers a friend turns on him, possessed by something far worse than the demon holding the contract to Jack’s soul. Now, he’s been recruited (some might say blackmailed) by an ancient order with roots in the Inquisition to hunt down whatever malevolent force is responsible for turning Boston’s homeless into ravenous killers. At the same time, someone from his past with a massive vendetta and nothing in the way of conscience, is looking for Jack, hoping to issue a little payback of his own.

Paired with a centuries old witch and the only person to survive the rampage thus far, Jack is in a race to track down whatever’s responsible for killing his people, all while staying one step ahead of the skeletons in his closet.

Ok. Started working on my royal fantasy short story again. Got a title: Elf Magic. And now need a name for the kingdoms: elf and human. Go for it.  Puns allowed. 🙂  Considering one of the MC is King Sire and the King of elves is named Elvan (for now), I think puns are encouraged.  🙂

Now, I posted this a couple of days ago on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.  I got one response.  *sigh*

Maybe I’ll get a couple more….

I’m contemplating what to do next.  Finished beta reading and now I’m at loose ends.  With the exception of a brief foray into editing a prior story, I haven’t written much in the last couple of weeks.  Tried to finish something for a call to submission back in early August but then work decided to rear it’s head and I’ve been working a lot lately.

I think I might play some Don’t Starve by Klei Entertainment (Google it, it’s not expensive and if you like computer games, I suggest you try it).  Don’t Starve, you say? What kind of game is that? It’s this fun, entertaining, wildly addictive cross between a world-building rpg, logic puzzles, strategies, and a fairly simple goal: Don’t Starve.  Meaning, don’t forget to eat, except that you sometimes can’t find food.  Don’t get killed either. There are monsters that will kick your butt.  If you don’t eat, you die.  If you get hurt enough, you die.  A lot.  Over and over again.  But you keep coming back for more.  There are Koalefants, Beefalo, Eye Birds, and a lot of other fun animals; even if you have to pick yourself up and start over…every….single…time.  Until you run across things that allow you to have save points.  Save points? Yeah, it’s a little like Mario World too.  Sigh.  Why do I play this game?  Because, it’s actually soothing to the geek in me when I’ve had a hard week.

Anyway, enough rambling.  I think I’m going to attempt to play for only an hour (did I mention it’s addictive?) and see how many times I can die in this silly, funny, and quirky game before going to bed.  Maybe the muse will come back and I can write again….soon.

🙂

P.S. And for the lazy (as I happen to be sometimes), I’ve included a link below because I can almost hear people go: Sounds interesting.  Where do I go?!

It amazes me, as I’m writing this story for #dreamspinnerpress’ call for submission for their holiday anthology, what comes out while I’m typing up the story.

First of all, I’m typing it basically from start to finish.  Which is unusual in itself.  The couple of other stories I’ve been working on (as inspiration hits) are random, all over the story, idea dumps and then I expand it out.

This one sort of flowing.  Which is good.  I might make the August 1st deadline.  Maybe.

Gotta get back to the grind.  I will post an except once I figure out what to say…

I’m actually writing! Well, mostly. When I have a chance. I’ve done some edits to one story and it needs more. Still noodling on that one.  Another, I’m just not sure but I should sit down and figure it out. But, first, I decided to try to submit something for Dreamspinner Press’s call for submission for the Christmas/Holiday season. And it’s due…August 1.  Yeah, like a week away. *thunks head* What am I thinking!? But, I got to 1325 words! Yay me!

So, I’m celebrating…by going to bed. *Sigh* I might do a little more but likely I’ll work on it some more tomorrow.

It’s going to be short. It’s about first dates and maybe new love, with a twist.  It’s m/m romance. I may not make the submission; and if I don’t, that’s fine. I can tweak it and try next year. Or, I might post here as a free writing. We’ll see!

…And so, it begins

Hello all,

My name is Eloreen Moon and I am starting this blog with the intention of writing my own stories and novels of love, romance, and erotica.  Come join me on my journey to be inspired, learn, and grow in this new endeavor that I’ve embarked.  Welcome all those that enjoy alternate lifestyles, romance, science fiction, fantasy, and maybe even mystery.  I feel I need to write and so I begin here.

Thanks for letting me ramble a bit and things will fill out at I set them up.  Soon, an excerpt of a story I’m writing.  What do you think?
