FiveOnFriday – NaNoWriMo – Day 8

What a busy week.  I’m multitasking with this so it will be amazingly short. 🙂

  1.  Review on blog tour for In Liam’s Wake.  Complete.  Have more interest with other authors wanting to blog hop.  Probably will host some starting in December/January.  More to come.
  2.  On-the-fly work presentation. Complete.
  3.  Another random presentation semi work-related.  Complete. (Did I mention I wish presentations counted to #NaNoWriMo?)
  4. NaNoWriMo story writing.  Not so much.  With work, writing has taken a back seat this week.  The hazards of working full-time. Luckily, I had a large word count in the beginning.  I love it when I’m proactive about something.
  5. And last but not least, more work tomorrow.  I see a theme here… *sigh* Somewhere in there, I will get to write again.

In the meantime, thank you for all of the followers on twitter.  Please feel free to follow on other social networks like Facebook, Goggle+, and Tumblr.  I just setup a Pinterest page last week, so check it out.  Should be pinterest.com/eloreenm. I’ll update links to them from my About page as I remember.

Have faith that your writing for NaNoWriMo will be completed, and most of all: HAVE FUN!

NaNoWriMo Day 4

I did a few more words since Friday, but not a lot.  Weekends are hard with family and other things having to do then.  Add to that my iPad is still doing odd things, and I’m getting slightly overwhelmed.  I have work stuff to do. I have reviews to do.  And all of this in the next couple of days. *bangs head on desk*

So, what does any good aspiring author do?  Procrastinate.  :0

The Friday List…Go

Hum, some of my friends are doing lists once a week to show the’ve done, what they are doing, and/or plan to do. That’s not a bad idea…so, here is my attempt a a list and we’ll see if I can keep it up.

1. Finished beta reading for a return author.  Those are always good.   I’ve been doing beta reading for awhile now.  I still enjoy seeing new authors with new material and published authors that continue a series.  Did I mention I like a series?  I certainly plan to start a series or two with my books.  We’ll see where they go.

2. Fought with the new gmail categorization and filters so I can get messages from Goodreads on my phone.  Had a couple of review requests so I got back in touch with those.  Oops!  Gotta love technology. 🙂

3. Spend the next week reading those books for reviews (twist my arm) and then posting them everywhere.  You’ll see them here when I post to my blog.  In addition to the review, I will be hosting the book’s blog tour for a day!  More information to come when I get it.

4. So, where is my writing in all of this? Glad you asked.  I’m going to attempt to start preparing for the #NaNoWriMO event next month and have committed to writing 50,000 words.  Holy crap! What have I done! *deep breaths* Ok, no panicking.  This will work.  Now, maybe I will get my creative juices going.  See my previous post for a contest I’ve started relating to this.

5. I plan to do something on November 9th as that is my anniversary date for starting to write these things.  Let me know if you have any ideas I could do on that day.  This is a discussion people. Let’s have some dialog going.  Let’s have some fun with this!

NaNoWriMo Musings and a Contest!

Sat down to home-made chili, a Mike’s hard lemonade (strawberry), and will finish beta reading a story tonight.  I hope.

I’ve noodled a couple of my stories off and on over the last month or so in between working full-time.  And now I start to see #nanowrimo preparation starting for some of my G+ friends.  Holy crap! When did November get here?

It’s a bittersweet time for me as I started writing almost a year ago.  So I wondered, what should I do to launch a year of writing?  On November 9th, 2012, I started writing a single story that had clamored in my head previously, and with the encouragement of other authors.  I now have that same story with several chapters, two short stories that are almost complete, and a few more that I have started notes on.  I would like to finish a novel, or several shorter stories, as a salute to persevering despite a layoff, teenagers, a new job, and getting older.  We will not discuss my age.  Consider me 29. 🙂

I would like to celebrate my year of writing by giving away a copy of the story, or stories, I finish next month and when it publishes (not if, when) and a $10 gift card to your favorite online eBook store (All Romance eBooks, Totally Bound [formerly Total-E-Bound], Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Bookstrand) to buy your next book.  I plan to update my progress on here Facebook, Google+, and Twitter.  I like talking to new people and hopefully, this will get me off the ground and running to finally get off my duff and get published.  Whether it will be with a publishing house, or I publish on my own, I don’t know.  But, that is the fun as I now have a goal.  My writings, so far, are in MM science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance genres.  Others might be in menage, contemporary and probably will expand to GBLT.  The sky is the limit.  So, if you like those, leave a comment here and at the end of November, I will randomly pick with an online random number generator.  Make sure to leave your email address so I can contact you for your $10 GC and send you the final version of the story that I finish in November.  Be aware that my story may be awhile since I’m sure there will be several rounds of edits to finish, random distractions, and finding a way to publish it.  You have my permission to repost this contest and/or otherwise spread across the internet.  The more the merrier.  Please make sure to link to this specific post so that all comments can be counted.  I’m only going to count the ones made here.  🙂

Thank you for “listening” to me ramble and come help me celebrate.  Teasers to follow!

The capacity to love is infinite.  But love’s capacity for others can be greater than one.  Love one another in any form you want.

Long road

I’m contemplating what to do next.  Finished beta reading and now I’m at loose ends.  With the exception of a brief foray into editing a prior story, I haven’t written much in the last couple of weeks.  Tried to finish something for a call to submission back in early August but then work decided to rear it’s head and I’ve been working a lot lately.

I think I might play some Don’t Starve by Klei Entertainment (Google it, it’s not expensive and if you like computer games, I suggest you try it).  Don’t Starve, you say? What kind of game is that? It’s this fun, entertaining, wildly addictive cross between a world-building rpg, logic puzzles, strategies, and a fairly simple goal: Don’t Starve.  Meaning, don’t forget to eat, except that you sometimes can’t find food.  Don’t get killed either. There are monsters that will kick your butt.  If you don’t eat, you die.  If you get hurt enough, you die.  A lot.  Over and over again.  But you keep coming back for more.  There are Koalefants, Beefalo, Eye Birds, and a lot of other fun animals; even if you have to pick yourself up and start over…every….single…time.  Until you run across things that allow you to have save points.  Save points? Yeah, it’s a little like Mario World too.  Sigh.  Why do I play this game?  Because, it’s actually soothing to the geek in me when I’ve had a hard week.

Anyway, enough rambling.  I think I’m going to attempt to play for only an hour (did I mention it’s addictive?) and see how many times I can die in this silly, funny, and quirky game before going to bed.  Maybe the muse will come back and I can write again….soon.

🙂

P.S. And for the lazy (as I happen to be sometimes), I’ve included a link below because I can almost hear people go: Sounds interesting.  Where do I go?!

writing…writing…writing…

It amazes me, as I’m writing this story for #dreamspinnerpress’ call for submission for their holiday anthology, what comes out while I’m typing up the story.

First of all, I’m typing it basically from start to finish.  Which is unusual in itself.  The couple of other stories I’ve been working on (as inspiration hits) are random, all over the story, idea dumps and then I expand it out.

This one sort of flowing.  Which is good.  I might make the August 1st deadline.  Maybe.

Gotta get back to the grind.  I will post an except once I figure out what to say…

…And so, it begins

Hello all,

My name is Eloreen Moon and I am starting this blog with the intention of writing my own stories and novels of love, romance, and erotica.  Come join me on my journey to be inspired, learn, and grow in this new endeavor that I’ve embarked.  Welcome all those that enjoy alternate lifestyles, romance, science fiction, fantasy, and maybe even mystery.  I feel I need to write and so I begin here.

Thanks for letting me ramble a bit and things will fill out at I set them up.  Soon, an excerpt of a story I’m writing.  What do you think?
